about

My take on Psalm 121. The sun shall not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

lyrics

Ps 121

You will be walking through the noon day glare
Because you've got to get from here to there
And the heat will be a pillow heavy pressed against your face
Your gaze will drop down to your stumbling feet
Where your own shadow will be scant relief
From the sun that keeps on beating beating beating every place
And you're all alone

Lift your eyes to the path that makes a way out of the wilderness
Lift your eyes to the low green hills not so far beyond
Lift your eyes to the mountains that keep you moving ever forward, ever wondering....
Where does my help come from?

You will be walking through the midnight black
You will feel creeping up behind your back
That old scimitar moon hanging above you by a thread
Darkness before you will be a curtain drear
Hiding and hinting at everything you fear
In the corner of your eye the shadows dance a dance of dread
And you're all alone

Maybe He will send your help rolling down the mountainside like thunder
Maybe He will send your help swelling like the ocean up from under
Maybe He will send your help with shouts and wingspreads, an angel army
Or just maybe, just maybe, just maybe, he'll just send me.
Where does my help come from?

Lift your eyes to the path that makes a way out of the wilderness
Lift your eyes to the low green hills not so far beyond
Lift your eyes to the mountains that keep you moving ever forward, ever wondering....
Where does my help come from?
